A great time was had by all to the farm of Denis and Mary O’Brien on Monday night. The beavers really enjoyed seeing and petting all the animals, especially the lambs and sheep dogs and came away with smiles on their faces.
Beavers from all over the Cois Laoi county section came to Aghada hall for a fun filled morning of skills, activities and games for the annual skills day that took place in Aghada.
The Beavers had a busy Monday night when we went to Inch beach as part of the national annual beach clean up week.
Loads of interesting and unusual types of rubbish were found as the Beavers did their small bit for the environment.
The perfect weather was a fitting backdrop to a fantastic day trip for the Beaver and weekend adventure for the Cubs and Scouts.
A fun packed day was started and finished with a wonderful ferry trip from Lower Aghada Pier to Spike Island and back, the rest of the day was exciting and tiring for all of the Beaver Scouts.
From island hikes, orienteering, prison tours, obstacle courses and boat trips around the naval base, the beavers didn’t have a spare moment to catch their breath. The hot dog at the end of the day before they boarded the ferry was most welcome.
Scouts had their annual camp in SilverCross campsite, Wales.

For the second year in a row, Aghada beavers were awarded the Gold Standard for their planning, preparation and range of activities. After the inspection in April by the County Officials, we received the award at the county day in Kilcully in June.
The Gold Award is the highest award available and shows the greatdynamic and vibrancy there is in the 66th Aghada Beaver section.
Congrats to all beavers and leaders on this outstanding achievement.
Despite the inclement weather, beavers thoroughly enjoyed themselves at Inch beach for last night of beavers for the summer.
The fog and the drizzle didn’t dampen their spirits and the hot dog at the end of the night sent them all home with a smile on their face. With games and activities galore, it was a good send off for the summer recess.
